Parking at Fiumicino and Malpensa: prices, booking and drop-offs
At Fiumicino and Malpensa the official car parks can be booked online, with web-only discounts, and the terminals are reached on foot or by free shuttle. For drop-offs there are short-stay areas that are free for 15 minutes, while at Malpensa Terminal 2 you pay from the first hour.
Key points
- At Fiumicino, Easy Parking is the only official Aeroporti di Roma car park, and the €5 a day rate applies to 7 days at Lunga Sosta Scoperto bought online at least 30 days in advance.
- Fiumicino's Lunga Sosta is linked to Terminals 1 and 3 by a free shuttle every 7 minutes from 05:00 to 01:00, with a maximum wait of 15 minutes at night.
- Anyone dropping off at Fiumicino can stop free for up to 15 minutes at Kiss&Go or at Breve Sosta T1, recommended for stays of up to 1 hour.
- At the 15-minute Area at Malpensa Terminal 1 an electronic system records entry and exit: you have 15 minutes to leave, up to 4 hours for passengers with reduced mobility who fill in a form.
- At Malpensa Terminal 2 short stays cost €5 for up to one hour and €5 for each following half hour until the fifth hour, after which the daily rate applies.
What to do before you set off
If you are driving to Fiumicino or Malpensa, there are only a few useful steps, but they need to be taken in advance:
- Book your parking online. At Fiumicino the discounted rates are web-only and the best offer requires booking at least 30 days ahead.
- Check your terminal. At Fiumicino, Terminal 1 mainly serves domestic and Schengen flights; at Malpensa the drop-off areas differ between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
- Decide who is dropping you off and where they will stop. Short-stay areas are free for only a few minutes, and at Malpensa Terminal 2 you pay straight away.
- Keep a credit card, debit card or Telepass to hand, as these are accepted at the exit barriers of Fiumicino’s main car parks.
The rules and prices below are those published by Aeroporti di Roma (ADR) for Fiumicino and by SEA for Malpensa. Neither operator states a date from which the rates apply: always check the price when you book.
Fiumicino: the official car parks
At Fiumicino the only official Aeroporti di Roma car park is called Easy Parking. ADR refers to more than 19,000 parking spaces within the airport. The options vary depending on how long you stay and your budget.
Terminal A-B-C-D car parks
These are multi-storey buildings located directly opposite the terminals, with around 3,500 fully covered spaces, a few minutes by travelator from check-in. The maximum height for vehicles entering is 2 m: take care if you are travelling in a van or with a roof box. ADR recommends them for those parking for just a few hours, but with good-value rates for longer stays if booked in advance.
Terminal Scoperto car park
This is the open-air, cheaper version, still close to the terminals. This long-stay car park can also be booked online.
Lunga Sosta Coperto and Scoperto
The Lunga Sosta is designed for longer stays and is split into Lunga Sosta Coperto (covered) and Lunga Sosta Scoperto (open-air), the latter being the cheapest. ADR points out that it is also good value for short periods thanks to 2 hours of free parking. In Sector 1, which is covered, there are 97 courtesy spaces for families, the Parcheggi Rosa, near a shuttle stop: according to ADR, once you have parked you are in front of the terminals in under 10 minutes.
Executive car parks
These are covered spaces a short walk from Terminals 1 and 3, with direct access to arrivals and departures. They include, free of charge, assistance from car park staff, the option of keeping your car keys and Fast Track for quicker access through security.
Malpensa: the official car parks
SEA describes its car parks as the official car parks, the only ones within the airport. On the website you choose a car park from a list or a map, with information and directions, and you will find offers reserved for online bookings. Season tickets and B2B agreements are available for travel agencies and companies.
SEA does not publish the daily rates of individual car parks on its general page, so the price of a long stay must be checked when booking online.
How to book and pay
At Fiumicino
Easy Parking can be booked and bought in two ways:
- online, in the dedicated section of the ADR website, where you will find the discounted rates available only on the web;
- by phone, by calling the call centre on 06 88 981 981.
Booked spaces are not allocated: you park wherever there is space in the chosen area.
Telepass. There are dedicated lanes and the charge goes straight to your Telepass account at no extra cost. If you want the web rates, enter the 10-digit number of your Telepass device when booking.
Other payment methods. The automatic pay stations and Customer Service accept cash, credit cards, debit cards and contactless. At the exit barriers of the Lunga Sosta and the Multipiano P Terminal A-B-C-D, however, you can pay only by credit card, debit card or Telepass: if you only have cash, go to the automatic pay station first.
Airport discounts. All car park customers can get discounts of up to 15% on services such as baggage wrapping, food and drink and shopping. Just show the QR codes you received by email or text message with your booking at the till, before paying. If you did not book online, once inside the car park you can request them via the link given by ADR on its offers page. At the Farinella, BeerCode, Ramen and Natoo restaurants, you need your car park entry ticket instead.
At Malpensa
Booking is online via the SEA website. If you paid at the automatic or staffed pay stations and need an invoice, SEA offers self-invoicing: keep your car park exit ticket and fill in the dedicated form.
Prices: what the operators say
Fiumicino, Easy Parking. ADR advertises parking from €5 a day. The rate applies to 7-day stays at Lunga Sosta Scoperto, bought online at least 30 days before entering the car park. The same page also carries a different wording: a rate for 7-day stays in car park P6, bought 30 days in advance. In both cases the rate may be higher in high season, the offer is subject to availability and cannot be combined with other promotions.
Fiumicino, Lunga Sosta. The first 2 hours are free.
Malpensa, Terminal 2, short stay. You pay at the meter: €5 for up to one hour, then €5 for each following half hour until the fifth hour. Beyond the fifth hour the daily rate applies.
Fiumicino, porterage. If you have a lot of luggage, the porter service costs €9.00 including VAT per standard item and €12.00 including VAT per non-standard item. It can be bought online or at the information desks, paid for only by debit or credit card, and also booked by phone or by email at porteraggio@adr.it.
Dropping off: what it costs to stop
Fiumicino
ADR offers two options for those dropping off or picking up:
- Kiss&Go: free parking for up to 15 minutes near the terminals, for quickly dropping off or picking up passengers.
- Breve Sosta T1: located in front of Arrivals, with covered spaces. The first 15 minutes are free and ADR recommends it for short stays of up to 1 hour.
Malpensa
Terminal 1, departures. There is the 15-minute Area, open to everyone. Once inside, you have 15 minutes to leave. On the Departures level ramp, on the right, you can also enter the P9 short-stay car park.
Terminal 1, arrivals. SEA lists 4 areas for short stays in the Arrivals area.
Terminal 2. Opposite the terminal building are the short-stay car parks, with one area for Arrivals and one for Departures. Driving along the Arrivals level road, you will find P7 and P7 Prime on the right, then further on the Arrivi Sud car park on the left; around the middle of the terminal, the entrance to P8 is on the right and the Arrivi Nord car park on the left. Here you pay the Terminal 2 rate shown above, as SEA explains on its page on parking for those dropping off.
Getting to the terminal
From the Fiumicino Lunga Sosta. The free electric shuttle Linea Parking links the car park with the terminals every day of the year, day and night. From 05:00 to 01:00 it runs every 7 minutes; from 01:00 to 05:00 the maximum wait is 15 minutes. The stops are at arrivals and departures of Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, marked by a black totem. The route is displayed at each stop.
From the Terminal A-B-C-D car parks. Check-in is reached on foot, with a few minutes on the travelator.
Inside the Fiumicino terminals. Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are arranged over several levels: level 0 Arrivals, with baggage reclaim and exit; level 1 Departures, with check-in and security; level 2 Mezzanine, with connections and services. The ADR map also shows the pedestrian links between the two terminals and the accessible routes.
At Fiumicino security. With QPass, a free ADR service, you book a time slot for security without creating an account. It can be used from 7 days before your flight; slots are normally available from 3 and a half hours up to 60 minutes before departure for Schengen flights and up to 75 minutes before for non-Schengen flights. A slot can normally be used from 15 minutes before to 15 minutes after the booked time. If you are coming from the Lunga Sosta, allow for the shuttle.
Checks and rules to follow
At the 15-minute Area at Malpensa Terminal 1, traffic is monitored by an electronic system that records entry and exit. SEA does not say on that page what you pay if you exceed the 15 minutes: best not to overstay and, if the wait drags on, move to a short-stay car park.
At Fiumicino, remember the 2 m height limit in the Multipiano Terminal A-B-C-D and that you cannot pay cash at the exit barriers. The operators do not publish the amounts of any penalties on their parking pages.
Exceptions
- Passengers with reduced mobility at Malpensa. At the 15-minute Area at Terminal 1 they can extend their stay up to a maximum of 4 hours by filling in the dedicated form beforehand. SEA also lists car park P2 at Terminal 1, on level -1, and car park P5 at Terminal 2 among the call points for assistance.
- Families at Fiumicino. The 97 Parcheggi Rosa in Lunga Sosta Coperto, Sector 1, are close to a shuttle stop.
- Those who want to keep their keys. Fiumicino’s Executive car parks allow this and include free Fast Track.
