Napoli: good to know before you park
Centro Antico: four camera gates
The Centro Antico ZTL is bounded by streets such as Via Toledo, Piazza Dante, Via Costantinopoli, Via Carbonara, Via Santa Sofia, Corso Umberto, Via Mezzocannone and Via Monteoliveto. Four electronic gates record number plates. Via Miroballo, Via Duomo at Piazza Museo Filangieri and Via Santa Sofia at Via Oronzio Costa are active every day from 9:00 to 17:00. The Via del Sole gate, just past the hospital entrance, works from 9:00 to 22:00 Monday to Thursday, and on Fridays, weekends, public holidays and the days before them from 9:00 until 2:00 the following night. Anyone without a valid permit is fined automatically.
Pignasecca and Chiaia
The Tarsia, Pignasecca, Dante ZTL is enforced every day from 9:00 to 18:00 at the Piazza Gesù e Maria gate, while the Via Domenico Soriano gate protects a pedestrian area all day long. In Chiaia, traffic is banned on Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:30 and from 16:00 to 22:00 on Via dei Mille, Via Filangieri, Via Santa Caterina a Chiaia, Piazza dei Martiri and part of Via Morelli. Every year from 8 December to 6 January, the Morelli, Filangieri, Mille ZTL also applies on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and the days before them, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00.
Who can drive in
Among the authorised categories are hotels and garages inside the zone, which obtain access for their customers' vehicles. Holders of a disability badge (CUDE) must also register up to two number plates with the city, in person or by certified email to ztl@pec.comune.napoli.it: without that registration the cameras fine them too.
Blue lines: paying on the street
ANM runs paid street parking in 11 zones, among them Chiaia, Ferrovia, Vomero and Fuorigrotta/Agnano. Hours and rates are posted on signs beside the bays. Meters take coins, and the newer ones also accept credit cards; either way the ticket goes on the dashboard. ANM's free apps Tap&Park and ANM GO, as well as EasyPark, MyCicero and Telepass, charge only for the minutes actually parked. Disability badge holders park free in blue bays.
Park and ride
ANM runs car parks linked to Metro Line 1. Colli Aminei is open around the clock: €2 for the first 4 hours, then €0.50 for each further hour or part of one. Brin, on Via Benedetto Brin and served by ANM buses, never closes either: from 6:00 to 24:00 it charges €0.50 per hour, with a minimum of €2 and a maximum of €5, and a flat €5 from 24:00 to 6:00.
Hospitals
For the Policlinico, the ANM car park on Via Pansini, also linked to Line 1, opens Monday to Friday from 7:00 to 20:00 and on Saturday mornings, and is closed on Sundays and public holidays. It charges €2 for the first hour or part and €6 for the whole day. Near hospitals with an obstetrics department, the city has set aside 36 free spaces for pregnant women.
