Torino: good to know before you park

ZTL Centrale: a morning ban

In the ZTL Centrale, driving and parking without a permit are banned from 7:30 to 10:30 on working days, Saturday excluded. The zone is bounded by corso Vittorio Emanuele II, corso Re Umberto, corso Matteotti, via Vittorio Amedeo II, corso Palestro, corso Regina, piazza della Repubblica, corso San Maurizio, the Po embankments and corso Cairoli; these boundary roads are not part of it. Cameras at 27 entry points check every plate. Outside those hours an occasional visitor needs no permit. Some cases, such as drivers with a European disabled badge from outside the city, can ask GTT for a retroactive exemption within 10 days of the first passage, Saturdays and holidays included.

Streets closed at other times

Stricter rules apply inside the centre. The ZTL Area Romana is closed to traffic and parking from 21:00 to 7:30 every day, holidays included, and from 19:30 in piazza Emanuele Filiberto. Streets and lanes reserved for public transport are closed from 7:00 to 20:00 every day, and the pedestrian ZTL at all times. The ZTL Valentino, inside the park of the same name, is closed day and night. In all, 41 camera points watch these zones.

Blue bays: four rates

GTT runs paid street parking from Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 19:30. An hour costs €2.80 inside the ZTL Centrale, €1.70 at the ordinary rate, €1.50 at the reduced rate and €1.20 in smart zones. The GTT SostAPP app charges by the minute, and a day ticket costs €19.00 in the ZTL Centrale or €11.50 at the ordinary rate, in the app or at GTT resellers. Motorcycles can park in blue bays without displaying a ticket.

Near the hospitals

Around several hospitals paid parking ends earlier, at 18:30: Oftalmico, Valdese, Maria Vittoria, Molinette, Mauriziano, San Giovanni Vecchio and Gradenigo. In the hospital district, a subscription to one of the GTT car parks Bacigalupo, Ventimiglia, Molinette, Nizza Carducci or D'Azeglio Galilei also opens the other four.

GTT car parks: height and LPG

Only cars may use GTT multistorey car parks, and unless a sign says otherwise the height limit is 1.9 m. LPG cars may not go to underground levels, except those with a system meeting UN ECE regulation 67-01, which may use the first basement level only.

Park and ride

GTT's Park&Ride day ticket costs €5.50: €1.00 for parking and €4.50 for one person to travel on the whole urban and suburban network, valid on the day of issue. Fermi, in Collegno at the terminus of metro line 1, has 427 spaces; Stura, entered from corso Romania on the northern edge of the city, has 603; Caio Mario, entered from via Pernati di Momo, has 430. Fermi and Stura are open 24 hours a day. Without the offer, these unguarded car parks charge €0.50 per hour.
