Den Haag: good to know before you park

Milieuzone

The Den Haag milieuzone covers the centre inside the Centrumring (S100) and the Professor B.M. Teldersweg (S200) and applies around the clock. Diesel passenger cars with emission class 0 to 3 may not enter; class 4 or higher may. Petrol, LPG, electric and hydrogen cars are not affected, nor are vehicles aged 40 years or more.

Street parking

Rates and paid hours vary by neighbourhood; the municipal zone map shows which apply to each street. In the city centre (binnenstad) you pay Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 24:00 and on Sunday from 13:00 to 24:00. In the main shopping streets an hour costs €7.15 and the maximum stay is 120 minutes. Since 1 April 2026, parts of the Oude Centrum and Scheveningen have a rising tariff: €7 for the first 20 minutes and €50 beyond 90 minutes.

P+R

For longer stays the municipality suggests leaving the car at a P+R on the edge of the city. Parking at P+R De Uithof is free and RandstadRail 4 reaches the centre in about 15 minutes. P+R Mariahoeve, also free, has 232 spaces, is open 24 hours a day and tram 6 takes 15 minutes to the centre.

Market days

The Haagse Markt, on the Herman Costerstraat, is open on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00; there is no market on 26 December. For drivers, the tourist office points to the Q-Park car park at De Heemstraat 301. By public transport, the Haagse Markt stop is served by trams 6, 11 and 12 and bus 25.

Every Tuesday, from 9:00 to 17:00, there is a neighbourhood market on the Leyweg, in front of the Leyweg shopping centre (Escamp). The Boerenmarkt, an organic farmers' market, is held on Wednesday from 10:00 to 18:00 on the Lange Voorhout; from 26 November to 24 December it moves to the Lange Vijverberg, beside the Hofvijver.
