Sevilla: good to know before you park
Low Emission Zone
The Low Emission Zone published by the city council covers the Isla de la Cartuja and is split into Cartuja Norte and Cartuja Sur. The restriction applies Monday to Friday, except public holidays, from 7:00 to 19:00, enforced by cameras that read number plates at the entrances; since July 2024 unauthorised entries have been reported and fined. According to the council, it mainly affects petrol cars registered before 2000 and diesel cars from before 2006.
GES, the former blue zone
On-street paid parking is called GES (Gestión de Estacionamiento en Superficie), formerly zona azul or ORA, and has three rates depending on turnover: Zona MAR, 60 minutes maximum for €1.25; Zona Azul, up to 120 minutes for €1.70; Zona Verde, up to 180 minutes for €2.00. You pay at the meter or with the Apparkya app. These prices are given for information only: the official rate is the one in the current tax bylaw.
Standard hours are 9:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00 on working days, and 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays; the Bami zone has longer hours, 8:00 to 22:00 without a break on weekdays. In July and August parking is only regulated Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00. A ticket for overstaying can be cancelled by paying €4.60 at the meter or in the app. Vehicles displaying a blue badge (PMR card) park free, and motorbikes may not use these spaces.
Car and metro
To avoid driving into the centre, the official map of Metro de Sevilla line 1 shows parking at Ciudad Expo, San Juan Alto, San Juan Bajo, Condequinto and Olivar de Quintos stations. The line runs through Puerta Jerez and San Bernardo.
Market days
El Jueves, the antiques and second-hand market, fills the pavements of calle Feria every Thursday from 8:00, next to the food market of the same name. From Wednesday to Saturday, 9:00 to 21:00, plaza del Duque, beside El Corte Inglés and La Campana, hosts another one selling crafts, costume jewellery and leather goods.
On Sunday mornings, from 9:00 to 15:00, the collectors’ market on plaza del Cabildo and the art market on plaza del Museo de Bellas Artes are set up. The city’s tourism website lists no traffic closures or parking restrictions for any of them.
