Valencia: good to know before you park
Low Emission Zone (ZBE)
The ZBE covers 27.8 km², almost the whole city inside the Ronda Nord, avenida dels Tarongers, la Serradora and Bulevard Sud. It only targets vehicles with the DGT A label, meaning no sticker at all: petrol cars registered before 2001 and diesels before 2006. Since 1 December 2025, fines apply to vehicles registered outside the province of Valencia; on 1 January 2027 the rest of the province is added, and on 1 January 2028 everyone, including city residents. The zone is watched by 278 cameras, the fine is €200 and each affected vehicle gets 48 entries per calendar year.
ORA: blue and orange zones
Anyone can park in the blue zone by paying: the general rate is €0.30 (25 minutes minimum), €0.80 per hour and €1.50 for the 2 hour maximum; in Ciutat Vella, L'Eixample and Extramurs the central rate applies (€0.55, €1.00 and €1.70). Charging hours are most often Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00, but in districts such as Algirós or Benimaclet you only pay on Saturday from 9:00 to 14:00.
The orange zone (Ciutat Vella, Russafa, El Botà nic, La Roqueta and La Petxina) gives priority to residents. Everyone else pays €1.10 for 25 minutes, €2.10 for one hour and €3.30 for the 2 hour maximum, and may not park outside charging hours. Cancelling an ORA parking ticket costs €4.00. Meters take cards and cash, and mobile apps can also be used to pay.
Park and ride by metro
Since February 2026, Metrovalencia has run a free park and ride car park at the new València Sud station: 536 spaces with direct access to lines 1, 2 and 7 for the trip into the centre.
Market days
Valencia’s “mercados extraordinarios” are open-air street markets held on a fixed day each week. On Mondays, the Mercado Central one takes over Palafox, En Gall, avenida del Oeste and plaza del Mercado, and the Russafa one fills the streets around plaza BarĂłn de CortĂ©s (Padre Perera, Doctor Serrano, Cura FemenĂa and Sevilla, among others). On Thursdays it is Cabanyal’s turn, between Escalante, Mediterráneo and plaza Cruz del Cañamelar.
All of them run from 9:00 to 14:00, and until 15:00 on the day before a public holiday. El Rastro flea market is different: it takes place on Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 to 14:00 in parque Amelia Chiner, at the corner of avenida de los Naranjos and LluĂs PeixĂł, except on holidays falling right before or after a Sunday, when it is not held.
The streets listed are taken up by stalls while the market is on. The city website gives no details on traffic closures or parking rules, so if you drive on a Monday or Thursday, look for a space away from those streets.
