Milano: good to know before you park

Area C: the paid zone in the centre

Area C is the restricted traffic zone of the Cerchia dei Bastioni, the ring of the old city walls. It is active from Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 19:30, except public holidays, and 43 camera gates read the plate of every vehicle that enters. A daily ticket of €7.50 covers every entry made by the same vehicle that day. Vehicles longer than 7.5 m are banned, and so are the most polluting classes: the city's online check tells you from the plate and country whether yours may enter.

Paying for Area C, even afterwards

The ticket is sold on the Area C website, at ATM parking meters, Intesa Sanpaolo cash machines and SISAL or Lis Pay points; Telepass works only for vehicles registered in Italy. Activate it with your plate between the day of entry and midnight of the following day. After that, up to 7 days after entry, it costs €22.50. If you leave the car for more than 1 hour in an affiliated garage inside Area C, entry costs €4.50, parking at most €4 per hour, and the garage ticket must be activated by midnight the same day.

Area B: wider, and free for permitted cars

Area B, bounded by blue gates, has the same hours but no fee. It bans the most polluting vehicles, lorries longer than 12 m and dangerous goods. Since 1 October 2026, a banned vehicle automatically gets 5 days of free access from the second year of its ban.

Blue bays: the zone code sets the price

Each street parking zone has a code on the signs, which you enter in the app or at the meter. Inside the Cerchia dei Bastioni you pay €3.00 per hour every day from 8:00 to 19:00, for no more than 2 hours per zone code; from 19:00 to 24:00 only the first 2 hours are charged, and nothing from 24:00 to 8:00. In the trolleybus ring the usual rate is €2.00 per hour, further out €1.20, until 19:00 on Saturdays too. Apps such as EasyPark or MooneyGo let you extend a session from afar.

Leave the car at the metro

ATM runs car parks at metro stations on the edge of the city. Lampugnano (M1, 1830 spaces) and Famagosta (M2, 2196 spaces) open from 5:30 to 1:00 on weekdays, and you cannot collect your car while they are closed. You pay at the machines before leaving: €1.50 up to 5 hours, €7.50 for a whole day. They are not guarded; parking at Lampugnano lets you request an exemption to enter Area B.

Match and event days at San Siro

In the blue zones around the stadium and the racecourse (codes 0831, 3431 and 0817), on event days paid parking runs until 24:00, from 8:00 on working days and from 12:00 on public holidays, at €1.20 per hour or €10.00 for the whole day. In the ATM car parks the operator may apply a special event rate of €4.00, with dates displayed on site.
